FOX's comedy development roster is already a crowded field, with at least 15 pilots in some stage of development. The network has added two more pick names to the mix, picking up comedy pilots from Chris Rock and Steve Martin.

Rock's entry is a semi-autobiographical series about growing up "on the nicest block in the ghetto," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project comes from 20th Century Fox TV and the TV arm of 3 Arts Entertainment.

"Saturday Night Live" alum Rock has earned three Emmys for his comedy specials and for the writing on his HBO-based "The Chris Rock Show." He wrote the script for the FOX pilot with Saladin Patterson and Ali Leroi. Patterson is a "Frasier" vet, while Leroi worked on Rock's HBO show.

The Martin-Stein Co. and Carsey-Werner-Mandabach will team up on an untitled comedy from hot scribe Mark Perez. The should would focus on a 16-year-old boy growing up in a Cuban-American family in Miami. Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner, Caryn Mandabach, Joan Stein and Martin will executive produce.

Perez's credits include the script for "Disney's The Country Bears" and upcoming features starring Ben Stiller and Jamie Kennedy.

Also on the development front, CBS is eying the comedy pilot "Taste," from Regency TV and CBS Prods. Written and executive produced by Kirk Rudell ("Spin City"), the show focuses on a recent culinary school graduate facing the challenges of her first big job. The pilot has been given a cast-contingent pickup.
